Huggo's faces due west over Kailua Bay, which means the day's last light lands right on your table. Here's how to time the perfect sunset evening.
Golden hour, every night
The Big Island's Kona coast is famous for sunsets, and Huggo's sits directly on the water facing them. No rooftops, no obstructions, just the horizon.
Arrive early and start at hBAR with Liquid Happy Hour from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, the only from-scratch Classic Mai Tai on the island, poured as the light turns gold. Dinner service begins at 5:00 pm, timed so the main course meets the sunset.
Sunset in Kona falls between roughly 5:45 pm in winter and 7:15 pm in summer. Book a table about an hour before sundown for the full show, and stay after; the torches come on and the shoreline glows.
