Defending champion Chris McCormack took the Ironman World Championship here for the first time in 2007 after 6 previous attempts. And he claimed victory again last year. He took time off from training this morning to stop by Huggo’s and give a big shout out to Executive Chef Ken Schloss — “Your grilled ahi is hands down best on the island, mate!”
Thank you, mate, and good luck on Saturday!

Love this write up! I’m the Mom of soon-to-be Ironwoman May Lauzon, and would love some tips on How to be a Spectator at an Ironman ! Have only been to sripnt events, and expect tobe at the swim start, then run to the transition area. But I really can’t imagine how such a long, endurance event will play out. (Also planning to bring the 15 year old brother ) Do we stay at the venue the entire time? Best to hang at the transition area, or stalk out spots on the bike or run route?? How to best catch a glimpse of our athlete? And, of course, how to best support her?? Would appreciate any advice from seasoned triathletes or Ironman triathlon spectators!!!!
