Celebrating 50 Years of Serving Aloha in Kailua-Kona!
In 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon, Woodstock rocked fans, and the average cost of a new house topped $15,000.That same year, Shirley and Hugo von Platen Luder established Huggoʻs.
It started as a casual gathering spot where you could get a good steak, a slab of fresh fish and pile it on at the salad bar. With its waterfront location, it proved to be a favorite haunt for local fisherman who gathered to share a salty tale or two.Huggoʻs was established
In the 50 years since, it has earned a reputation as Kona’s premiere restaurant for fresh seafood, oceanfront ambiance and casual elegance. With the renovated hBar and addition of On the Rockʻs next door, it proved to be a huge success, one that Shirley and Hugo could not have anticipated!
Add to this a LIVE music line-up since day one (including favorites like Kona Blend and Hot Lava 808) and you can see how we have evolved over the years to become one of Konaʻs finest oceanfront dining establishments!
Please come and join us in celebrating Huggoʻs as we sing happy birthday with Henry Kapono and raise money for the Big Island community!
