Team Huggo’s takes 3rd Place in the 12th Annual Kuki’o Challenge

On June 3, 2012 the 12th Annual Kuki’o Challenge took place in Kailua-Kona.  Kuki’o Resort, a private oceanfront club and residential community hosts this challenge each year, and the Huggo’s family was happy to participate not only in the race, but also as a sponsor.

The team challenge consisted of a .5 mile swim, 3 mile run, and 4 mile paddle, or 2 mile paddleboard/stand-up paddleboard.

Team Huggo’s Relay Tram took 3rd place in the event!

Runner – Justin Butler (busser at Huggo’s), Swimmer – Matt Dykes (club manager at Lava Lava Beach Club), and SUP – Eric von platen Luder.

The competition was fierce!  Team Ironman who took first place were two professional triathletes Greg and Sian Welsh.

Nate Grocholsky, a sever at Huggo’s also raced the course as an individual.  He placed first in his age group division 30-45 and finished first in the OC-1 segment.

Huggo’s and Lava Lava Beach Club were also sponsors for the event.  They served up veggies, frittatas, and pancakes for the 250 participants, volunteers, and spectators.  The Huggo’s family would like to thank Paola Pagan and Kuki’o Resort for hosting such a great event!
