Being on the West side of the Big Island, we were not directly hit by the weather that occurred recently, in the form of Tropical Storm Iselle. What we witnessed after was an outreach of support and assistance from the communities that were affected in the lower Puna area, a district slightly smaller than the entire island of Kauaʻi.
We wanted to show our support for Rainbow Friends Animal Santuary, a local NO KILL shelter that was and is greatly affected by the storm by donating $1.00 for every new “like/follow” we get on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for a few weeks.
Located in Kurtistown, Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary, is a non-profit organization that houses over 80 dogs and 250+ cats! Several structures were completely destroyed and the weather has left them with no where to house the dogs and cats displaced. Their motto is:
We embrace the vision in which we see a time where all animals have a home with caring and responsible people and a time where there is a compassionate and loving relationship between humans and non-humans. Love is. Love is not something you do today and not tomorrow.

What else can you do to help?
Aside from helping us by liking our social media pages, you can help with some of their immediate needs. Due to the storm, they are running low on several supplies. If you can help or know of someone in the area who can bring these items by it would be greatly appreciated! Here is just some of the items needed:
Cash donations for supplies to rebuild the enclosures that were destroyed
Whiskas cat food (dry and wet)
Pedigree dog food (dry and wet)
A truck for continuous use to help haul supplies
