Nicolette Palacol out-foxed a 780-pound blue marlin to claim the overall win for Team Foxy Lady in the annual tournament held in the waters off Hawai’i Island’s Kona Coast on Saturday, July 30. She shared the victory with teammates Saige Padilla and Natasha Manasas from Team Foxy Lady!
Held on the Kona side of Hawaii Island each July, the tournament benefits Family Support Hawaii. While $10,000 was donated to the charity, the teams also competed for $30,000 in prizes. The tournament, having just completed its 21st year, has raised more than $160,000 over the past two decades.
Some 400 anglers on 66 teams participated in the one-day charity event, the largest ladies billfish tournament in the Pacific. The tournament followed the traditional kick-off party at On the Rocks on Friday night with teams dressed to reflect this year’s “Wild Wild West” theme.
The Award’s dinner was Sunday evening at Lava Lava Beach Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort. Both venues are part of Huggo’s Luana Group of restaurants located on Hawai’i and Kauai Islands.
Congratulations to all participants and a BIG MAHALO to tournament director, Sue Vermillion!
