When Huggo’s President Eric von Platen Luder isn’t busy at the family’s restaurants, including On the Rocks also in Kailua-Kona and Lava Lava Beach Club at Waikoloa Beach Resort, he’s busy serving the community!
Currently president of the Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) Alumni Association, Eric presented students Kyle and Morgan with the association’s annual top achievement awards earlier this month. In addition to his role with the Alumni Association, Eric is president of the Kailua Village Business Improvement District, a past president of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce, a strong supporter of the West Hawaii AIDS Foundation and director of the Annual Huggo’s Wahine Fish Tournament, a fundraiser for Family Support Services of West Hawaii, which takes place this year on Saturday, July 27. Over the past 17 years, the event has raised nearly $110,000 for local charities.
