Huggo’s Celebrates 45 Years on the Kona Coast

Shirley and Hugo von Platen Luder opened Huggo’s in 1969. This year marks Huggo’s 45th Anniversary since first opening our doors.

Their son, Eric von Platen Luder, currently owns and operates Huggo’s after taking over the family business 32 years ago. Eric’s philosophy continues to be “to provide a memorable evening and dining experience rather than simply a meal.”

With the restaurant’s success and longevity, Huggo’s has definitely earned a reputation as Kona’s premiere restaurant for fresh seafood, oceanfront ambiance, and casual elegance with the farm-to table philosophy of procurement and sourcing as many products as possible from local farmers and fishermen.

Huggo’s was one of the first local restaurants to set up daily communications with the fleet of Kona boat captains to insure they served only the freshest fish available. This practice continues today.

Huggo’s would like to sincerely thank all our loyal customers and also our first time guests for their patronage. Without great customers like you, 45 years in business would not have been possible!
