Our popular “Wine on the Lanai” monthly wine pairing dinner returns to celebrate summer at Huggo’s, Kona’s iconic oceanfront restaurant. Huggo’s upcoming “Wine on the Lanai” on Thursday, August 23rd will feature a 5-course interactive dinner, pairing wines from France selected under the expertise of Pat Okubo, the youngest Master Sommelier in North America.

Huggo’s Executive Chef Albert Asuncion 5-course seasonal menu includes:

Assorted Amuse Bouche
Francois Montand Brut Rose

Champagne Seared Diver Scallops – Tomato and Saffron Broth, Shaved Fennel and Micro Greens
Pairing: Pierre Sparr, Riesling

Roasted Moulard Duck Breast – Honey Roasted Figs, Frisse, Fig Balsamic Glaze
Pairing: Chateau de Jacques, Moulin-A-Vent

Roasted Chateaubriand of Beef – Green peppercorn Sauce, Boursin Cheese Potato Gratin, Asparagus
Pairing: Chateau Recougne, Bordeaux

Trio of Profiteroles – Coconut Cream, Dark Chocolate and Banana Cream
Pairing: Chateau Gravas, Sauternes

Pat Okubo’s outstanding wine industry credentials make him a perfect collaborator for Huggo’s special events. He is a Master Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, a Certified Wine Educator (CWE), and Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS). Currently, Okubo is the Fine Wine Specialist and Wine Educator for Young’s Market Hawaii. Earlier in his career, he opened Formaggio Grill as Managing Partner and worked as Wine Director Restaurant manager at Four Seasons Lana’i.

Huggo’s “Wine on the Lanai” Summer Dinner Series are for guests ages 21 and older.

The intimate dinners are set against an oceanfront backdrop with only 34 reservations available.

Reservations are only available by emailing mara@huggos.com. Cost is $100 per person plus gratuity, tax is inclusive.
