The Huggo’s family of restaurants (Huggo’s, On the Rocks and Lava Lava Beach Club, all on Hawai‘i Island) is at it again – supporting programs and events benefiting our Island community!

Huggo’s General Manager Greg Peterson joined with Lava Lava Beach Club General Manager Jason Winniford to put together a foursome to participate in the 6th Annual Palamanui Golf Tournament on April 14.

Hosted at The Club at Hokuliʻa, proceeds from the event benefit the Palamanui Hawai‘i Community College now under construction in West Hawaii (just north of Kailua-Kona).

The campus – the first permanent, physical campus for the University of Hawaii system on the west side of Hawaii Island – is scheduled to open in the fall of 2015, according to officials.

Our ace team (Greg, Jason and restaurant servers “Island Johnny” and Jack Barnett) tied for first place out of a field of 27; the tie, however, was determined by best score on the spectacular golf course’s most difficult hole – we missed by just a couple of strokes.

Congratulations to all participants – you’re all winners in supporting this great cause furthering higher education on Hawaii Island!
